Use your imagination. Whatever you picture your escape to the Keys to be like -- you can make it happen. Every activity imaginable is available locally.
You may just be in need of a relaxing vacation. You can certainly find that here at Captain's Quarters. Wake up to the most magnificent sunrises you will ever see, followed by a day of lazying on the hammock and watching the larger fish chase the smaller fish around the boat basin. Maybe you'll go for a swim in the late afternoon and then rinse off in the outdoor shower. If you choose to go fishing, you can grill your catch-o-the day on the outdoor gas grill. As the sun sets and the sky fades to black, before you retire to your kingsize bed you could easily be witness to a star-filled nightsky backdropping the swaying palm trees. Finally, if you're fortunate to stay at the Quarters on a breezy night, you may choose to sleep with your bedroom doors open and let the palm fronds lull you to sleep.
If you're in an adventuresome mood, you might choose to go poking around the local scenes, such as Theatre of the Sea, Anne's Beach or Bahia Honda. Check out some of the museums and try the local food. Whether you drive, walk or bike around, there's plenty of exploring to be done in the Islamorada area and surrounding Keys. Do you like wildlife and marinelife? Bring your camera and take home some beautiful memories of the natural beauty the Keys has to offer. Consider swimming with the dolphins. You can take a trip to the lower Keys to catch some images of the famous Keys deer, or stay right at home at the Quarters and capture some great shots of many different species of birds, fish of all types, crabs, iguanas, turtles that were living at Whale Harbor Estate long before the Captain's Quarters was built. If partying is what you have in mind, stop by the Tiki Bar or wander down the road to Margaritaville or to any of the other party spots along the very unique Florida Keys.
Are you a waterbug? How about some boating, fishing, snorkeling, diving, jet skiing, waterskiing, windsurfing or parasailing. Bring your own gear or rent locally. We now also offer our guests use of 2 kayaks (both are 'sit-on-tops', one is a solo and the other a tandem) that we keep on the property.
